Reasonable smartphone security
When we enter the store to buy a cell phone as a first idea we should start evaluating the safety, instead most of the time we pause to calculate the battery life or the screen size.
Avoiding wasting time and money can only assure us of the certainty of having made the right choice in terms of security and especially if there is damage due to theft, bewilderment and also to prevent some poor spirit from misusing our smartphone (malware), rely on those who guarantee us the least damage.
Almost all smartphones are known to use Android (Google) o iOS (Apple).
The first question arises spontaneously, or what is the safest smartphone. Our answer is: "The easiest one to disable".
The second question is, what is the OS that runs the least risk of malware or virus infection. The answer is: "The one most controlled by the manufacturer".
Virus, spam and malware attack Android at least in the 50% of the cases, being the most used operating system in the world. It is the preferred target for crackers. How they act?
Through, usually, the black market (black market). The black market is a free zone, without control of the Mother House (Google), so it is a bit like entering the Kasbah and represents the price to pay for greater freedom of choice, out of the common canons.
Malware of some importance with regard to the Iphone is not there, although occasionally someone is occasionally picked up by the press, see Xagent.
So Android allows the installation of applications outside of the Google store, while this is not allowed by the Apple.
Also on the subject of security, more than half of the users do not use lock the smartphone, according to a recent survey. The reason is perhaps related to saving time. Blocking is essential. Just think in case of theft. Locking the phone should be easy for the smartphone owner to get around and at the same time inaccessible to others.
IOS guarantees security in several ways, or with the PIN, password and fingerprint recognition (Touch ID) digital.
Android also provides facial recognition, the block model, the drag, he pin, la password.
But it is generally accredited by the trade press that among all the methods, the safest is that of iOS with Touch ID.
The systems instead of maximum diffusion, which allow you to locate your smartphone in case of theft or loss, I'm the Device Manager for (Android) and the FindmyiPhone for (iOS). It has been known that there has been a significant lowering of iPhone thefts since Apple's operating system, obliges the user to request the activation block. In fact, when making a report of loss or theft of the phone, this code must be indicated to the Judicial Authority. The other aspect is the complete encryption of information on the phone which is only available on iOS and is optional on Android. Therefore only the starting iOS guarantees data protection.
Parental control has been a little-heard topic in the past with particular regard to mobile systems connected to the internet (tablet, smartphone), today it is known that even expensive applications can be downloaded by children, without adequate control, as well as inappropriate images. Android still doesn't have parental control, except for the activation of the password for the purchase, but rumors make us suppose that there will be short news. Apple remains today the most responsive to family needs. In fact, it is possible to disable the browser from the "Restrictions" menu and limit the options for the child during navigation. Then there is "Family Sharing" which controls the costs and therefore the child must ask for permission in order to buy anything on Apple.
Last but not least, what could we reconfigure if we decided to change the phone? Backup to the Cloud is important and must be kept in mind when purchasing the smartphone. Here too, safety must be assessed, but security must still be intuitive, otherwise it becomes an obstacle.
Android still has a way to go to a good level of intuition. Part of the data settings and passwords are in fact saved by Android on the Google Cloud, but the rest is saved in other areas of Google such as Google Drive or Google+. Obviously without a Google account it is impossible to save anything on the Cloud and there are aspects to be improved for Android regarding the possibility of Google to install programs in the Cloud.
Apple makes available to the user only 5 Free GB on iCloud and this thrift underlies a commercial aspect, that he could have avoided.
I leave the conclusions to the reader, in any case, I would like to remind you that se vis pacem para bellum.
After a reset or a change of phone, what's possible to restore? The system makes backup copies of data and applications? Cloud backup is an aspect to keep in mind when choosing an operating system.
Android The system saves the settings and passwords to the cloud by default. However, the photos, videos and documents are stored in separate and optional places, come Google Drive o Google+. An Android without these applications and without a Google account has no backup on the cloud.
iOS stores all data on iCloud, but the free space is only 5 gigabyte. The difference is important compared to 18 gigabytes that Microsoft provides through OneDrive (15 free e 3 activating the upload of photos).
Third place for Android, which forces you to make more decisions and has a less consistent security framework, with manufacturers adding their own applications, that can be installed from the outside. Second place goes to Windows Phone, very robust and with excellent backup, but still incomplete.
As we discussed in the previous comparison, unintuitive security is useless. iOS is in first place because it knows how to combine security and ease of use. It doesn't require many configurations and the Touch ID and Find My Friends features make it unsurpassed. The version 8 further improves these characteristics.
In short: if you don't want to think too much about security, scegli iOS o Windows Phone. However, if you want to install applications from sources other than the official store or if you prefer that security be administered through unofficial applications, Android is an application choice, but more dangerous: it is the price to pay for a greater degree of freedom.
Which system do you consider most secure?
In terms of security, the information is never too much.
