Pre-Raphaelites and security
Visiting the Manchester Art Gallery I was struck by the most significant works of the Pre-Raphaelites and English landscape architects in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. This "revolutionary" atmosphere that is perceived in art is best expressed visually in Museum of Science and Industry always in the city, where you can admire the large steam engines, or the hydraulic swivels, who represented the "engines" of His Majesty's empire, with 12 millions of slaves and to the distribution network of goods through the artificial channels copied from the Naviglio di Milano, by Leonardo. Revolution in revolution, occurred with the production of "centralized" electricity at the end of the 19th century, generated by large distribution plants, which connected each factory through a cable system and the company was thus freed from having and having to manage its own electrical or steam system, saving time, maintenance, costs and investments. And since the owner of the power plant was even more experienced than the individual entrepreneur in the matter, the service was optimized and the costs were lower. It was a very important step change and companies were finally free to produce without dealing with energy.
Today by some the Cloudcomputing has been compared to this "change of pace", with the advent of energy production by a single supplier.
But it really is ? Italy is in second place in Europe after Finland, in the use of the Cloud, but it is used in Italy by the common user mainly for mail, instead it is necessary to download from the server for security reasons, the exact opposite of what happens in Europe. Cloudcomputing is useful at the moment for some companies that cannot afford to be uncompetitive, but they can't even afford offices that create new programs, therefore using Cloudcomputing they reduce costs. We must emphasize that it is not within everyone's reach to manage Cloudcomputing you must have good computer skills to access it. Go to Google and try to sync folders
from the Cloud to your computer and after losing an infinite amount of time for this simple operation, set the folders from the Cloud as an Administrator between you and your office team and try to educate them, then we'll talk about it. So it's a throwback, the entrepreneur had to deal with cars supplying electricity to run the company. It is worth it? So the "Cloud" doesn't just mean being connected to the internet, as some believe, but it is the technology that could allow us to save our data and information on the remote server, it could also perform important tasks allowing the end user to have programs and applications (not always "coincident" with what we are used to using from 10-15 years) and of course all for a fee, except for the online mail mentioned above. The real Achilles heel remains safety, or the confidentiality of data and the criminal use that is made of it if it falls into the wrong hands, the best known is the replacement of identity, or identity theft (?). If I use your credit card to withdraw your money from the ATM, I don't steal your identity (identity theft), but I "replace" you to steal your money. The same applies to the Company's confidential information. So referring to Anthony Hope's novel "The Prisoner of Zenda" to talk about identity theft makes little sense.
Il Cloud computing, will be the future? maybe. Today it occupies a very secondary aspect also in military "things". In the best case, Cloudcomputing is still a very unripe fruit, that only the poorest use, to keep up with the competition and reduce the costs of new programs, or the most inexperienced in managing mail (Cloud).
