SUFFERS FROM ASTHMA IL 12% OF ITALIAN CHILDREN

About the 12% of Italian children suffer from asthma allergy, a disease that when it becomes chronic significantly affects the expenses of a family. The data is’ was made known to Saint Vincent, in the Aosta Valley, on the occasion of the national seminar on the subject ”Quality protection’ of the life of the child with asthma”, promoted by the European Center of Bioethics and Quality’ of life, in collaboration with Federasma and the United’ of the Aosta hospital and the pneumology division of the Regina Margherita children's hospital in Turin.
At the end of the seminar e’ a working group was set up to organize the Quality Observatory’ of the life of the allergic patient. The structure that will have to’ operate nationally and internationally to collect,
study and evaluate allergy data. ”Learning about the disease and improving ability’ to live with it – said the director of the Bioethics Center, Miroslava Vasinova – you can’ allow the child to become more and more’ self-sufficient, in the hope of avoiding the onset of inferiority’ physical and psychological inadequacy”. In particular ”the diagnosis of asthma must be
explained in a simple and understandable way to the family, who must know the causes and know so’ that this does not depend on quality’ and quantity’ of childcare”.

Always on the subject of asthma, sending children to kindergarten before they are two years old can’ double the risk of them becoming asthmatic.
This data is’ emerged from Norwegian research conducted by the National Health Institute’ Oslo and presented in Berlin, in the company's congress’ of respiratory diseases.
The study e’ was conducted by epidemiologist Wencha Nystad analyzing the history of almost 2.200 children and showed that asthma affected significantly more children who attended kindergarten between one and two years. For Nystad a possible explanation of the phenomenon is’ exposure to agents responsible for allergies present in large quantities’ in kindergartens and schools. ”Stay in contact with these substances for many hours a day – he said – promotes the onset of the disease”. According to the pediatrician Maurizio Miraglia Del Giudice, University’ of Naples, the presence of mites and dust in domestic and school environments e’ a problem to be considered very carefully, but it should not be an excuse to underestimate an equally serious phenomenon: smoking in front of children. ”Passive smoking – took over – causes sensitization in children that favors asthma and e’ by now proven that smoking in pregnancy causes irreversible damage to the lungs of the unborn child”.
It is currently women, in Italy, more smokers’ fierce, so much so that according to data from the World Health Organization’ Italy and presented at the congress’ 55th in the world for male smoking and 18th for female smoking. Overall, however, it is not included in the ranking 25 Countries with multiple smokers’ avid, that this year sees Poland in the lead.
